Carrie has been enjoying attending the Nature Kids coop lately. We are on week four. So far we've learned about trees, bugs, the pond, and the woods. I want to capitalize on her interest in this program so I've been researching various science curriculum that I could connect with the hands on learning opportunities she's been having with the Nature Kids. See the Nature Kids Tree Scavenger Hunt blog for an example.

One name that seemed to stand out in my research was Apologia. Since Carrie really seemed to take to learning about the different trees, I am going to use the Exploring Creation through Botany curriculum first. What I really appreciate about this curriculum is the Junior Notebooking Journal that is an optional purchase. The activities included are ones that Carrie and I both can enjoy. As a former Science teacher, I think that this is one of the best options that I've seen up to this point. I especially like the fact that most, if not all, of the hands-on activities, experiments, and projects can be completed with household materials. Plus it comes with a DAILY SCHEDULE. I am always grateful when resources include something that can help keep me on task.
